FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1) Q. I also have the last name "Kordelski," are we related?

A. How could we not be?

2) Q. Why "kordelski.org," and not "dot-com"?

A. I'm no more an "org" than I am a "com." Maybe I should have bought "dot- net" but I just liked the phonetics of the double "OR," you know, kORdelski-dot-ORg. I DO have far-off plans to do some non-profit things for independent film in the future.

3) Q. Calling it dot-org makes it seem like this is some kind of family reunion or family tree website, but it isn't. Do you plan on doing anything like that?

A. Not immediately, but I'm not opposed to the idea. I've liked all the "Kordelski's" I've met and I've noticed that we're definitely improving as a breed with each generation. Putting up too much personal imformation on the web is just inviting headaches from spammers and con artists. Maybe a passcode protected private site is in our future. If any relatives want to to help me in regards to buying the extra "bandwidth," email me!

4) Q. Your resume lists "web design" as a skill. yet your own personal website seems simplistic.

A. This is a personal web site out up mainly for fun. After putting so much time in at work on "real" projects, I've had to keep this site simple. I never meant anything but "www.kordelski.org/resume" and the related resume links to been seen by employers. The other parts are admittedly silly, and never meant to be anything otherwise. I've also kept it simple because I'm frustrated by sites that take forever to download and then really don't have worthwhile content. This site may be amateurish, but it's quick to get to.

Also, on a "prefessional" site, I would wait until it was perfect until I dared to post it to the web. This site however, is posted even though it is un-finished. Hopefully, it is PERMANENTLY unfinished, and I'll be adding and improving it little by little.

5) Q. Do you have any tips on aspiring filmmakers?

A. I am just an aspiring filmmaker, so I can't open any doors for you. I will say this "persistence" and "perserverance "are two prerequisties, as are "aggression" and "boldness." The reasons for giving up FAR outway the reasons for continuing the struggle. My only practical advice would be to learn Photoshop, Illustrator, non-linear editing, photography (even in this digital age, the basics taught therein still apply) and in all endeavors, ask yourself "how will this help me?" Do NOT judge people the same way, although far too many aspiring creative types fall into this trap.

Also, start learning AUDIO as best as you can and as much as you can. Sound is an underappreciated but sorely needed skill. If I owned my own video company, I'd hire a great sound person over the best video person anyday.

Heres another thing they WON'T teach you in any RTF course: TV is dying, and nearly everything that used to be done on film or video is soon going to be web based. Photography led to cinema, and cinema merged with radio to give us TV, cable has all but replaced broadcasting, and the next generation of the web is going to either replace or affect all of them. This is not a maybe, its already started.

6) Q. Can I be sent a copy of your movies?

A. No, but you can buy copies of the fighting movies from "www.onehornproductions.com," and I don't have a distributor for "The Least of My Brothers" (Yet).

7) Q. I just read your 'Alamo Drafthouse' page, are you affiliated with them?

A. No. I used to work there for a few weeks, and am a HUGE fan, but there is no official connection between them and my fansite. I've had the unique privilege of getting to know most of the staff there and feel lucky to one of the Alamo "characters." I had lots of photos of various Drafthouse events and I figured "why not?" I know a fansite like that is kinda dweeby, but no worse than much of the web.

8) Q. I saw several pictures of Harry (AICN) Knowles in your Drafthouse scrapbook. Since you know him could you get him to.....

A. I do NOT know Harry Knowles.

We have a lot of mutual acquaintances, but for some reason the big man himself has never seemed to want to know me. Oh well, his loss.

9) Q. Whats your next movie project?

A. I wish I knew . "OHP" has a lot of great footage ready to be used in "Rage in the Cage 2" but won't commit to making it until "Rage 1" and "Blood. Sweat and Teeth" make back their costs. Tell all your friends to go buy those tapes, and then I can make "Rage 2." The powers to be at OHP and I have discussed several other ideas once things start rolling.

I'm still shopping around "The Least of My Brothers." You will DEFINITELY be see something more from me soon.

10 Q. How did you make this page?

A. I used all Macintosh based software. I used Adobe PageMill and Photoshop, with scanned in Photos and some AVID video captures. I once paid my local film developer to press my pic's to CD when I had them developed, but I am happier with the picture quality results of hand scanning over PhotoCD. Some of the other images came from the, alas, defunct "Infini-D." I also used "ClarisWorks" Adobe Illustrator and several other software Apps. Whenever possible I obstain from using anything from MiCrapSoft. I deliberately avoided FLASH and DREAMWEAVER because I think they're overkill for a personal page. See question 4.

11) Q. Why the "copyright" on all of your pictures?

A. I'm not that full of myself that I think things like my personal photographs (etc.) are of much value to anyone, but you just never know. I am withholding all the rights to everything on this site, and shall consider anyone downloading or in any way taking anything from this site for their site or any other other use to be theft and I will respond accordingly. If there's anything you want to use, please email me to ask for permission. I can't imagine that I would decline any reasonable request. Also, some of this stuff is the property of other parties and you may need their permission.
